Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) announced on the 9th that it was selected as an ‘Excellent’ institution in 2 out of 11 categories in the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s ‘2024 Regional Welfare Project Evaluation’ and received a ministerial citation.
In this evaluation conducted nationwide targeting local governments, the city was selected as an excellent institution in the categories of ‘Implementation Results of the Community Security Plan’ and ‘Provision of Visiting Health and Welfare Services.’
First, in the category of Implementation Results of the Community Security Plan, this is the first time the Ministry of Health and Welfare has awarded the city since it won the Gyeonggi Province Encouragement Award in 2020. From planning to execution and results, the public and private sectors cooperated throughout the entire process, actively responding to changes in the community and citizens’ needs, and promoted customized welfare services, receiving excellent evaluations.
Additionally, in the category of Provision of Visiting Health and Welfare Services, the city was recognized for the fourth consecutive year for strengthening the health and welfare functions of neighborhoods (dong), discovering and supporting vulnerable households through a human safety net, and promoting Uijeongbu-type specialized projects to discover welfare resources and connect blind spots. Furthermore, in the ‘Operation of the Hope Welfare Support Group’ category, the city was selected as a top region in the comprehensive evaluation and received a citation from the Minister of Health and Welfare for outstanding contributors.
This award is the result of external recognition of the achievements of various public-private cooperation projects and policies pursued to improve the quality of life of citizens, and it is expected to serve as an opportunity to elevate the level of welfare services in Uijeongbu City to the next level.
Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, “This great honor is the result of continuously listening to the voices from the field and striving to provide customized services for our citizens,” and added, “We will continue to strengthen communication through public-private cooperation to create ‘Uijeongbu City of Care for All.’”
