Lee: "President Yoon's actions amount to national rebellion, becoming a greater crisis"
"Shock to foreign exchange and stock markets... due to short-sighted politics"
Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, referred to the December 3 emergency martial law incident as a "state rebellion attempted by President Yoon Seok-yeol" and stated, "I hope President Yoon resigns immediately."
At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly on the morning of the 9th, Lee claimed, "The state rebellion attempted by President Yoon is escalating into a greater crisis." He expressed concern, saying, "Currently, the foreign exchange and stock markets have been continuously shocked since the emergency martial law incident," and "the negative impact of political uncertainty on the country's credit rating is very significant." He added, "This phenomenon is due to self-serving and short-sighted political actions," and emphasized, "We must quickly restore trust in our economy in the global market."

Lee said, "Although the stock index avoided a crash for three days starting last Wednesday, the main reason seems to be that the pension fund made an enormous amount of net purchases." He also mentioned, "There is a limit to propping up stock prices with public funds," and "It is suspected that funds are being injected to suppress the exchange rate in the foreign exchange market, but I worry about how long this can be sustained." From the 4th to the 6th, the pension fund purchased stocks worth 646.9 billion won in the domestic KOSPI and KOSDAQ markets to support the index.
On that day, Lee urged President Yoon to "resign immediately" three times. He stressed, "If President Yoon does not resign immediately and continues to hold on, the exchange rate and securities markets will become irreparable," and "President Yoon must stop actions that ruin the future of the Republic of Korea and the lives of its people, especially the economy, for his own safety and glory."
Lee stated that if President Yoon does not resign, the People Power Party should participate in the vote in favor of the impeachment motion against him. He said, "The ruling party should stop unnecessary talk and participate in the impeachment vote this Saturday as a contingency plan if President Yoon does not resign." A discarded bill can only be reintroduced once within a single session. The impeachment motion against President Yoon was discarded once on the 7th due to a lack of quorum. Accordingly, the Democratic Party plans to convene an extraordinary session on the 11th after the regular session ends on the 10th and bring the impeachment motion against President Yoon to a vote again on the 14th.
