Ulsan Education Superintendent Cup Judo Tournament Held... 243 Students Participate

Competition for 134 Medals Across 36 Weight Classes

Number of Participating Students Increases by 61 Compared to Last Year

Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Cheon Chang-su) hosted the 27th Ulsan Superintendent's Cup Judo Competition on the 7th, with 243 students from elementary, middle, and high schools in the Ulsan area participating to compete in their skills.


Notably, the number of participants increased by 61 from last year's 182 to 243, demonstrating the high level of interest in judo among students.


The competition, held at the Ulsan Innovation City Complex Innovation Center in Jung-gu, Ulsan, aimed to expand the base of judo practitioners and discover outstanding athletes. It was an event where not only judo student athletes but also general students competed together.


The matches were divided into 36 weight classes. The boys' elementary division had 8 weight classes, the girls' elementary division had 4, the boys' middle school division had 7, the girls' middle school division had 5, the girls' high school division had 3, and the boys' high school division was split into 7 special aptitude classes and 2 athlete classes.


Students competed for a total of 134 medals.


An official from the Ulsan Office of Education stated, “Through this competition, athletes will be able to assess their skills, gain diverse experiences, and grow further. We also expect this event to increase citizens' interest in judo.”
