This casebook includes introductions and episodes of 48 communities active throughout Paju, village life stories filled with the joys and sorrows of 39 activists, stories of the Paju Village Community Association and the Village Community Hanmadang Promotion Committee, introductions to support projects such as village community education and networking, and information on participating in village community public contest projects.

The casebook was produced with the purpose of informing that looking at each other, connecting, and holding hands in the village is above all important and valuable work, through the village communities active throughout Paju, and to guide more citizens to participate.

Village communities are nonprofit private organizations that watch over areas where administrative reach is limited through resident networks, weave relationships into trust, and solve village problems. Paju City supports village community activities annually through the village community resident proposal contest project.

Currently, about 90 village communities, planned and participated in directly by residents, are actively operating in Paju City.

Mayor Kim Kyung-il of Paju said, “Village communities are the foundation of grassroots democracy and hold the hope of this society,” and added, “I congratulate the publication of the casebook that contains the footprints of village community activities and the heartfelt reflections of the hardworking activists, and I hope this precious book will serve as a channel to introduce village communities to more neighbors and enable them to join together.”
