In particular, with this award, Gumi City achieved the milestone of being selected as the best center five times for the first time in the province, once again proving its control capabilities.

This achievement includes the real-time arrest of 68 criminal suspects this year (14 cases of theft and attempted theft, 3 cases of violence, 40 cases of drunk driving, and 11 other criminal cases) and 533 crime prevention reports. In recognition of these contributions, the city received a plaque and a certificate of appreciation from the Chief of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency.

The evaluation was conducted based on the operational performance until October 2023 of 22 integrated control centers across cities and counties in Gyeongbuk Province. The evaluation criteria included ▲ real-time arrest performance such as criminal arrests and assistance in arrests (50%) ▲ crime prevention report performance such as reports on juvenile delinquency scenes and notifications of suspicious persons or intoxicated individuals (30%) ▲ qualitative evaluation including special internal policies (20%).

Mayor Kim Jang-ho said, “This achievement is thanks to the dedication and prompt response of the Integrated Control Center staff,” adding, “We will continue to prioritize citizens’ safety and further strengthen crime prevention and response systems.”

Opened in 2010, the Gumi City Integrated Control Center currently operates 4,732 CCTVs. Gumi City is striving to create a safe city by continuously expanding CCTV installations and introducing an intelligent selective control system to respond swiftly not only to crimes but also to disasters and accidents.
