Hwang Kyo-an: "Yoon's Orderly Resignation? Han Dong-hoon's Claim is Absurd... Evaluation Should Come After Term Ends"

Handonghun should present opinions instead of fighting with Yoon
It is wrong to think about impeachment in the middle

Han Dong-hoon, leader of the People Power Party, stated that an orderly resignation is a better option than the impeachment of President Yoon Seok-yeol, while former Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn criticized this, saying, "I don't know what the party leader is thinking to talk about stopping the president's administration," calling it "an absurd statement."

Former Prime Minister Hwang made these remarks on the 9th during YTN Radio's 'News Fighting with Bae Seung-hee,' saying, "This is nonsense. A legal professional is talking about something unimaginable."

In a public statement released the previous day along with Prime Minister Han Deok-soo, Leader Han said, "The majority of the people believe that President Yoon should step down because he cannot carry out normal state affairs for the remainder of his term," adding, "Until the president resigns, the prime minister will closely consult with the party to ensure that public welfare and state affairs proceed without disruption." In this context, the Democratic Party of Korea has pointed out that the plan for Prime Minister Han and Leader Han to be entrusted with state affairs is 'illegal.'

Former Prime Minister Hwang also firmly stated that the plan for Leader Han and Prime Minister Han to be entrusted with state affairs (a presidential authority acting system) cannot be established. He countered, "Even looking at the law, this is impossible," adding, "There are things the acting president can and cannot do." Legal procedures such as an accident or incapacitation, which require the president to step down, are necessary, and simply stepping back to the second line does not establish an acting authority system.

Former Prime Minister Hwang criticized Leader Han, saying, "He seems to be greatly mistaken," and "He appears unable to distinguish between what he can and cannot do." Although the president is currently in an uncomfortable situation, his authority has not disappeared. He emphasized, "Leader Han should help the administration to succeed so that the ruling party can win," adding, "This is the time to present opinions, not to fight with the president."

Regarding the 'orderly resignation' mentioned by Leader Han, he noted, "While one can advocate for resignation, that does not mean the state affairs will become calm." He stated, "The president's responsibility is the term granted by the people," adding, "Evaluations can be made after the term ends, but the idea of impeaching in the middle of the term is wrong."
