Key figures including Mayor Park Hyung-jun, Hwasung Chairman Hyun Seung-hoon, and Busan Museum Director Jeong Eun-woo attended the event.
Hwasung is a local company that has grown based in Busan since its founding in 1953. It contributes to regional economic development and job creation by recording annual sales exceeding 6 trillion won in various fields such as automobile parts, materials, chemicals, comprehensive trade, and sports fashion ODM.
The 100 million won donation from Hwasung on this day will be fully used to support the Busan Museum’s exhibition and promotional projects, including the installation of an LED electronic display board.
The Busan Museum holds more than three special exhibitions annually and about 30 educational and cultural programs, attracting around 400,000 visitors each year, establishing itself as a representative cultural institution of the “Cultural City Busan.”
The Busan Museum expects that installing a highly visible LED electronic display board will provide citizens with a clearer and more comfortable viewing environment.
Chairman Hyun Seung-hoon of Hwasung said, “The bond formed as a donor at the opening of the Busan Museum in 1978 has continued for 46 years to this day, allowing us to share not only the joy of collecting cultural heritage but also the joy of empathy,” adding, “I hope this donation will be a small help for the Busan Museum to get closer to the citizens.”
Leading Hwasung, Chairman Hyun Seung-hoon followed the will of his late father, Chairman Hyun Soo-myung, by donating over 60 tangible cultural heritage items to the museum at its opening, taking the lead in establishing a culture of donating cultural and artistic works among Busan citizens. He also played a significant role in regional cultural development, including efforts to revive the Buil Film Awards in 2008.
In recognition of his contributions to regional economic and cultural development, he received the 2024 Busan City “Proud Citizen Award” Grand Prize.
Mayor Park Hyung-jun expressed, “I sincerely thank Chairman Hyun Seung-hoon of Hwasung for his continuous interest in traditional culture and arts and his precious heart to share it with citizens,” adding, “Hwasung’s meaningful support will be a great force in enriching citizens’ cultural lives through the harmony of tradition and modernity at the Busan Museum.”
