Mayor Park: "Creating a healthy local community and protecting health to promote happiness is an important aspect of the sports sector"

Busan City will hold the ‘15-Minute City Vision Tour Season 2 Geumjeong-gu Edition’ at 2 p.m. on the 9th at the Geumjeong Cultural Center Eunbit Saem Hall.

About 350 people will attend the event, including Mayor Park Hyung-jun, National Assembly member Baek Jong-heon, Geumjeong-gu District Mayor Yoon Il-hyun, City Council member Lee Junho, Chairman and council members of the Geumjeong-gu Council Choi Jong-won, and residents of Geumjeong-gu.

The event will proceed in the order of ▲(Part 1) ‘15-Minute City Geumjeong-gu Proposed by Citizens’ ▲(Part 2) ‘15-Minute City Talk Concert with Citizens’.

The ‘15-Minute City’ policy aims to create a city where residents can fully access facilities for childcare, education, medical care, health, culture, environment, and welfare near their homes regardless of where they live in Busan, and where they can meet various neighbors, realize themselves together, and enjoy happiness. The city is focusing on promoting this policy.

Rather than a government-led one-sided policy, the city has been holding the ‘15-Minute City Vision Tour Season 2’ event since March to communicate directly with residents of the 16 districts and counties and create customized ‘15-Minute Cities’ for each district and county.

The Vision Tour Season 2 listens to various opinions from citizens and promotes tasks proposed by them. This Geumjeong-gu edition is the twelfth event held.

Today, ▲in Part 1, a proposal for the ‘Connection and Circulation, Hoedongho Walking Trail (Tangmoesan-Oryun-dong Suwonji Village) Linkage Project’ by local residents will be presented, and ▲in Part 2, a talk concert between Mayor Park Hyung-jun, National Assembly member Baek Jong-heon, Geumjeong-gu District Mayor Yoon Il-hyun, and Geumjeong-gu residents will be held.

The ‘Connection and Circulation, Hoedongho Walking Trail (Tangmoesan-Oryun-dong Suwonji Village) Linkage Project’ proposed by Geumjeong-gu residents in Part 1 is a project investing a total of 10 billion KRW to connect the disconnected sections of the Hoedongho trail, which is frequently used by local residents and tourists, and to purchase the Tangmoesan site to create a neighborhood park.

Once this project is implemented, Geumjeong-gu residents and tourists will be able to walk around the Hoedongho area without climbing Bu-eongsan to pass the disconnected sections, and various community activities will be possible at Tangmoesan.

The Part 2 talk concert is arranged to hear candid responses from Mayor Park Hyung-jun, National Assembly member Baek Jong-heon, and Geumjeong-gu District Mayor Yoon Il-hyun regarding residents’ opinions collected in advance through the 16 administrative welfare centers of Geumjeong-gu. Various opinions will be exchanged with residents about long-standing projects in Geumjeong-gu.

Mayor Park Hyung-jun said, “The ‘15-Minute City’ policy is intended to provide opportunities for citizens to gather, exercise, learn, and communicate to build good social relationships near their homes.” He added, “Especially in the field of sports, it is a crucial factor in creating a healthy local community and protecting citizens’ health to promote happiness. We will carefully review the valuable opinions given by Geumjeong-gu residents for the ‘5-Minute City Busan’ and reflect them in project implementation.”
