A story has been shared about a self-employed business owner troubled not only by a part-time worker who does not properly adhere to working hours but also secretly taking food home. On the 4th, a post titled "A part-time worker who works 3 hours a day, 4 days a week is secretly packing a lot of food to take away" was uploaded on the self-employed online community 'Apeunikka Sajangida'.
The author, Mr. A, who runs a Japanese restaurant, began by saying, "(The part-timer) works less than 3 hours, but when they come, we provide meals and snacks such as rice and drinks, and if they are too busy to eat, I told them it’s okay to take out dishes like rice bowls." Later, Mr. A happened to check the closed-circuit television (CCTV) and witnessed a shocking scene. The part-time worker was caught secretly packing food worth 50,000 won.
Specifically, Mr. A said, "Today, by chance, I saw on the CCTV that they packed salmon sashimi (22,000 won), 12 pieces of meat sushi (18,000 won), and 10 pieces of fried squid (12,000 won) all by themselves," expressing his frustration, "The price of salmon has been rising lately, so this is a headache." The problematic part-timer had a history of colluding with other employees to punch attendance cards on their behalf. He added, "I’m not absent from the store every day. I work more than 350 hours a month. I buy snacks well and often order food from other places for delivery, but if I step away for a moment due to work, they leave early, punch out for each other, take a lot of food, or slack off," he lamented.
Finally, he said, "I’m confused whether the employees take advantage of the boss’s absence to this extent. Do other bosses overlook this kind of behavior?" seeking advice from other self-employed business owners. Netizens who read the story responded with comments such as, "This crosses the line. Even if it’s not a lawsuit, you must take action," "You should fire the part-timer immediately," "A small thief becomes a big thief; it’s clearly theft, and if you leave it alone, it will cause bigger problems," and "If one person does this, other employees will follow suit later."
