Nowon-gu Officer Jeon Seon-yeong Awarded Excellence Prize in 'Seoul Metropolitan City Safety Award'

Nowon-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that Jeon Seon-young, a public official affiliated with the district, received the Excellence Award at the 'Seoul Metropolitan Government Safety Awards' ceremony held on the 6th.

The 'Seoul Metropolitan Government Safety Awards' is an annual award organized by the Seoul Metropolitan Government to recognize individuals or organizations dedicated to disaster and safety management. This year, a total of seven recipients were selected, including one Grand Prize winner, two Excellence Award winners, and four Merit Award winners.

Jeon Seon-young, who works as a visiting nurse at Wolgye 2-dong Community Service Center, was recognized for her prompt and accurate response to an emergency situation that occurred at the community center, saving the life of a resident, and was awarded the Excellence Award.

In August of last year, Jeon discovered a resident in his 60s who was in cardiac arrest and unconscious, and immediately activated the emergency medical system. Through precise cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), emergency measures were performed for 10 minutes, resulting in the patient regaining a heartbeat and consciousness. The patient was then transported to a university hospital by 119 emergency personnel, completed treatment, and returned to daily life.

Jeon said, "Regularly checking the location and operational status of the automated external defibrillator helped me respond quickly in the emergency situation," and added, "I will continue to do my best to protect the health and safety of residents."

Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, expressed gratitude for Jeon's dedication, saying, "I thank Jeon Seon-young for saving a resident's life through swift and accurate action in a crisis," and added, "I hope this case raises awareness of the importance of emergency response and serves as a model for creating a safe environment."
