'Warning: Imprisonment if Disposed Without Review'
The National Archives under the Ministry of the Interior and Safety reportedly requested the Ministry of National Defense, the Presidential Office, and others on the 6th to thoroughly preserve records related to the previous emergency martial law situation.
According to Yonhap News, on this day, the National Archives sent an official letter requesting that all materials related to the emergency martial law declared by President Yoon Seok-yeol on the 3rd, including minutes of the Cabinet meeting, measures taken by each ministry, and closed-circuit television (CCTV) recordings, not be discarded but be thoroughly preserved. The requested institutions include the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Ministry of National Defense, Presidential Office, National Police Agency, and related subordinate organizations.

The official letter also contained a warning stating that "under the Act on the Management of Public Records, if records are discarded without review by a professional records manager or deliberation by the Records Evaluation Committee, the responsible party may face imprisonment of up to seven years or a fine of up to 30 million won."
The National Archives told the media, "Considering the importance of the matter and concerns about the risk of disposal, this decision was made after internal review," and added that the contents of the official letter will soon be posted on the Information Disclosure Portal.
