Increased User Convenience and Enhanced Transparency in Facility Use After June Ordinance Amendment and Introduction of Integrated Reservation System for Local Sports Facilities, Gaining Citizen Support
Yeoju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Chung-woo) has amended the "Ordinance on the Installation and Operation of Sports Facilities in Yeoju City," which includes adjustments to the fee collection methods and exemption rates, along with the introduction of an integrated public sports facility system in June. The ordinance is currently being implemented, enhancing the convenience of using sports facilities and enabling more systematic management and operation, which has received positive responses from citizens.
According to Yeoju City on the 6th, the integrated public sports facility system is an online platform that consolidates reservation, usage status, and facility management information for all sports facilities in the region. Citizens can easily reserve sports facilities and check availability in real-time via PC or mobile devices.
With the introduction of this integrated system, first, any Yeoju citizen can make unified advance reservations, applications, and payments. To reduce excessive user fees, sports facility usage fees and ancillary facility fees (such as lighting and HVAC electricity charges) have been integrated, providing both public transparency and convenience.
Second, the system prevents monopolization of sports facilities by specific sports groups, ensuring public interest and efficient facility management. Currently, user monitoring allows immediate identification of inconveniences and issues, enabling system improvements and user-centered operation of sports facilities.
The integrated reservation system has now been established for all sports facilities in Yeoju City. Any Yeoju citizen can use the facilities after making advance reservations and payments through the websites of Yeoju City, Eup/Myeon/Dong, and the Urban Corporation. Kiosks will be installed at facilities with high user demand to enhance user convenience.
To secure the public nature of these public sports facilities and improve usage management, Yeoju City has conducted sufficient consultations since July last year, including meetings with representatives of sports associations and related organizations, to derive and implement improvement plans. In the future, individual sports meetings will be held to continuously improve the system and develop efficient, user-centered methods for using sports facilities.
Mayor Lee Chung-woo of Yeoju City stated, “Through the introduction of the Yeoju City public sports facility integrated reservation system, citizens can more easily use sports facilities and lead vibrant lives. The facilities will be transformed into sports spaces that anyone can conveniently enjoy. Furthermore, we will continue to promote policies for expanding and operating sports facilities that provide a healthy life for Yeoju citizens.” He added, “We ask for the active interest and participation of all citizens.”
