‘Making Miryang Shine · Making Citizens Happy’

Miryang City in Gyeongnam held a talk concert at the former Miryang University complex cultural space ‘Yeolduddal’ to communicate and empathize with citizens and explore ways to develop the city.

The ‘Yeolduddal’ concert was promoted as part of Mayor Ahn Byung-gu’s emphasis on citizen communication and on-site administration since the beginning of his term. About 80 citizens from various fields attended the event held on the 5th, creating a lively forum for dialogue and communication.

Since taking office, Mayor Ahn has frequently visited major project sites to check progress and seek solutions on-site, making communication with citizens a core principle of city administration. This event concretized these efforts and became an opportunity to realize citizen-centered open governance.

The event shared the city administration vision of ‘Making Miryang Shine, Making Citizens Happy’ between Mayor Ahn and the citizens.

Mayor Ahn expressed his ambition to “develop Miryang into a key city in the Yeongnam region through solid citizen-centered administration,” explaining major policy achievements and future plans. This was followed by dialogues with citizens covering various fields such as care and education, agriculture, culture and arts, business, sports, and youth.

In particular, regarding major city administration challenges such as population decline and low birthrate, resolving agricultural labor shortages, and revitalizing culture and arts, the mayor provided specific answers and policy directions in response to citizens’ questions and opinions, promising to actively reflect the voices of the citizens.

At the end of the event, all participants held towels with the city administration vision catchphrase and shouted “Making Miryang Shine, Making Citizens Happy,” pledging together to create a bright future with one heart.

This talk concert was evaluated as an important stepping stone toward ‘communication administration with citizens,’ which listens to diverse opinions of citizens and reflects them in policies.

Mayor Ahn emphasized, “Today’s gathering is not just a place for conversation but a significant starting point where each citizen’s voice helps draw Miryang’s future together,” adding, “Citizens’ opinions are the compass of city administration and the driving force that makes the city shine, so we will continuously create opportunities for communication and build a truly happy city together with the citizens.”
