58 University and High School Student Teams Participate in Joint Competition
The Software Convergence Innovation Center at Pukyong National University (Director Song Ha-ju) held the ‘2024 Department of Computer and Artificial Intelligence Engineering DevDay’ event on November 27 at the Multipurpose Hall of Engineering Building 1.
As part of the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Institute for Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation (IITP)’s ‘SW-Centered University Project,’ this event featured a capstone design competition showcasing innovative projects in artificial intelligence (AI) and software (SW) developed by related major students. Additionally, the event included four programs: employment preparation mentoring by alumni, open labs introducing research labs, and a high school competition addressing local issues.
About 260 participants, including Pukyong National University undergraduates and high school students from the Busan area, attended the event, enhancing practical SW problem-solving skills through the capstone design competition and exchanging innovative technologies and information.
Participants also experienced practical feedback and know-how transfer from industry experts, as well as career planning guidance, through special lectures by alumni and open labs, finding motivation and ideas for new challenges.
At the capstone design competition, among the creative and highly complete works, 16 teams won awards such as grand prizes and gold prizes across five categories. In the high school local issue discovery competition, five teams received awards including the Director’s Award of the Software Convergence Innovation Center and encouragement prizes across two categories for outstanding planning and problem-solving abilities.
Starting this year, the Software Convergence Innovation Center at Pukyong National University plans to hold this event annually to provide students with opportunities to demonstrate creativity based on their major courses and to offer employment and career information. Along with this, the center will play a pivotal role in expanding the base of regional SW education by diversifying program operations targeting elementary, middle, and high schools in the Busan area.
