This competition aimed to raise awareness of environmental issues by promoting the 3R concept of waste?Recycling, Reuse, and Reduce?to protect the environment, conserve resources, and reduce waste. It is an autonomous educational activity program where participating students plan and execute projects themselves to creatively approach environmental problems easily.
A total of 25 teams submitted their works (videos), and through judging, 12 teams were finally selected: 1 Grand Prize, 2 Gold Prizes, 2 Silver Prizes, 3 Bronze Prizes, and 4 Encouragement Awards.
The Grand Prize was awarded to the Green Fact team from the Department of Chemical Engineering (Shin Young-jun, Kim Ryun-gyeom, Lee Seok-jin, Yoon Joon-seo, Yoo Myung-han; work titled Journey Toward Society). They created a video promoting the advantages of using tumblers, which are gradually disappearing, to reduce disposable products and spread this message to those around them. They also pledged to continue encouraging tumbler use in their daily lives to reduce disposable products even after the competition.
Additionally, the following teams received awards: △ Earth Protecting Ping team from the Department of Nursing (Gold Prize) △ Invincible Semiconductor team from the Department of Semiconductor Electronics Industry (Gold Prize) △ Zero Ping team from the Department of Nursing (Silver Prize) △ We Sort Waste Well team from the Department of Chemical Engineering (Silver Prize) △ Recycle Girls team from the Department of Nursing (Bronze Prize) △ Mani Mani Carrot Carrot team from the Department of Emergency Medical Services (Bronze Prize) △ 6 Gongjoo team from the Department of Early Childhood Education (Bronze Prize) △ Environmental Cleaner team from the Department of Emergency Medical Services (Encouragement Award) △ Emergency Rescue team from the Department of Emergency Medical Services (Encouragement Award) △ Recycle People team from the K-Food Department (Encouragement Award) △ Tooth Fairies team from the Department of Chemical Engineering (Encouragement Award).
Kim Young-do, President of Dong-Eui Institute of Technology, said, “In modern society where environmental issues are emerging, recognizing the importance of the 3Rs and further developing individual job competencies and problem-solving skills required by companies made this competition very meaningful. We will continue to actively support students to realize their diverse ideas and share them with each other to foster healthy competition.”
