Official Work Begins from January 1st Next Year
Pulmuone has appointed a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), launching its second phase of professional management system.
On the 6th, Pulmuone announced at its regular board meeting that Lee Woo-bong, Head of Pulmuone Strategic Management Institute, has been appointed as the next Chief Executive Officer effective January 1 of next year.
Pulmuone stated that Lee was selected as the next CEO through a fair and transparent process conducted by the CEO Candidate Recommendation Committee within the board, which involved a year-long candidate recommendation, screening, verification, and final selection from multiple candidates. Lee Hyo-yul, who has led the company for the past seven years as CEO, will serve as the Chairman of Pulmuone’s Board of Directors.
Lee, the next CEO, joined Pulmuone in 1988 as a new employee from the 4th open recruitment class and has been with the company for 36 years, working in finance and accounting, purchasing, sales, strategic planning, and as a representative of affiliates. He is the first CEO from the open recruitment class to lead Pulmuone. After joining, he was recognized for his capabilities while handling management support, purchasing, and food service businesses at Pulmuone Foods, Pulmuone Foodmorse, and Pulmuone Sammul. In 2019, he served as CEO of Pulmuone Food & Culture, a major affiliate, where he demonstrated outstanding management skills by overcoming the COVID-19 crisis and deficits to achieve profitable operations.
Since July last year, he has been serving as the Head of Strategic Management Institute at Pulmuone, the holding company, overseeing strategy formulation, execution, and comprehensive support for all domestic and international businesses including HR, finance, legal affairs, IT, and SCM. In addition, as the company-wide CXO, he established strategies to promote digital transformation and actively introduced AI technology into the food service business, contributing to improved work efficiency and productivity.
After his appointment, Lee emphasized four core tasks for Pulmuone’s growth: ‘Expansion of Sustainable Food,’ ‘Global Market Expansion,’ ‘Strengthening ESG Management,’ and ‘Future Response through Food Tech.’ He expressed his ambition to do his best to help Pulmuone, a leading Korean company in healthy food, grow into the ‘Global Number One Sustainable Food Company.’
