Busan Office of Education and Busan National University of Education Enhance Expertise in Elementary School Teaching

Strengthening University-Linked Teaching Competencies for Over 600 Elementary School Teachers

Focus on Digital-Based Class Innovation for 'In-Depth Learning'

Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Ha Yun-su) will operate the ‘University-Linked Elementary Teaching Competency Enhancement Training’ for about 600 participants, including heads of learning guidance and lead teachers from all elementary schools in the Busan area, for five days starting from the 9th at the Video Seminar Room of Busan National University of Education.

This training aims to enhance teachers’ instructional expertise to implement the ‘deep learning’ emphasized in the 2022 revised curriculum in the field.

The Busan Office of Education will focus on developing teachers’ digital-based future-oriented instructional innovation capabilities through sharing research results by subject linked with universities. The training will be held one day each for Korean, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, and English subjects, allowing teachers to choose the subjects they wish to attend.

The training will be conducted through collaboration between research experts, professors from Busan National University of Education, and field experts, the teachers. Professors will lecture on digital-based educational directions and teaching-learning models by subject, while teachers will present the developed teaching-learning materials and application cases.

The developed materials are expected to be widely used in the field, containing teaching-learning plans, worksheets, digital media, etc., centered on achievement standards selected through curriculum analysis.

Ha Yun-su, Superintendent of Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, said, “Even in rapidly changing educational environments like these days, the most important thing in education remains the passion and professionalism of teachers,” and added, “The city education office will strive to strengthen teachers’ instructional competencies and do its best to advance Busan as a center of education in South Korea.”
