Bosirai's Son Married to Taiwanese Woman
"No Conflict with President Xi"
"Father Always Worked Hard"
Bo Xilai, former Party Secretary of Chongqing and a political rival of Chinese President Xi Jinping, recently married a Taiwanese woman, and he has addressed various suspicions including allegations of hiding assets overseas.
On the 5th (local time), Bo Xilai's son, Bo Guagua, posted a lengthy message on his X (formerly Twitter) account, stating, "After the wedding, some people spread false information and private videos about me on the internet," and expressed his desire to "clear up many misunderstandings about me and my family." He first said, "These days, my wife has been smiling and asking me, 'There are rumors online that you have huge overseas assets. Where are they?'" He replied, "I wish I had them. Then we wouldn't have to work so hard to earn money." He added, "Hundreds of investigation teams have searched for assets for decades, but no one has found anything. If anyone knows, please tell me."

Bo Guagua also addressed rumors about a rift between his father and President Xi. He explained, "There was no conflict between our family and President Xi's family," and added, "My father never thought about fighting and had long expressed full support for President Xi." Locally, the rumor that Bo Xilai, once known as the "Crown Prince of China," fell from power due to opposing President Xi had become widely accepted as fact. Bo Xilai was ousted in 2012 on corruption charges, sentenced to life imprisonment, and is currently serving his sentence at Qincheng Prison in Changping District, Beijing, where high-profile inmates are usually held.
However, Bo Guagua said, "If my father had faults, it was that he always worked hard but failed to socialize and communicate well with people." He also mentioned, "My father's subordinate, Wang Lijun, former Director of Chongqing Public Security Bureau, was initially an excellent police officer but later became blinded by power and abused his authority. Not dismissing him earlier was also my father's mistake." The decisive factor in Bo Xilai's downfall is known to be Wang Lijun's attempted asylum in the United States.
Bo Guagua also put to rest rumors that he drove a Ferrari and dated someone. He explained, "The related report by The Wall Street Journal (over ten years ago) was proven false by other media such as The New York Times," and "The reporter responsible was dishonorably dismissed for false reporting." Regarding his mother, Gu Kailai, who was convicted and imprisoned for the murder of British businessman Neil Heywood, he claimed, "My mother is innocent. Heywood was an ordinary person with no connection to our family."
Meanwhile, Bo Guagua went to the UK for studies in 1998 and attended the University of Oxford. He graduated from Harvard University's Kennedy School in 2012. On the 23rd of last month, he held a wedding ceremony with Taiwanese woman Xu Huiyu at a resort facility in Hsinchu County, northern Taiwan. Xu Huiyu is the granddaughter of Xu Wenzheng, founder of Luodong Bo'ai Hospital in Yilan County, eastern Taiwan.
