Changwon Coast Guard New Coastal Rescue Boat S-59 Commissioned, Mission Execution Begins

Two 800-Horsepower Diesel Engines · Maximum Speed 65 km/h

The latest coastal rescue boat S-59 of the Changwon Maritime Police Station in Gyeongnam completed its commissioning ceremony at the Shinhang Police Substation pier on the 5th and began full-scale mission operations.


The new coastal rescue boat is a 20-ton vessel measuring 15m in length and 4.24m in width, equipped with two 800-horsepower diesel engines, capable of operating at a maximum speed of 65 km/h.

The new coastal rescue boat is assigned to the Changwon Shinhang Police Substation, which manages security and safety for national key facilities such as Busan New Port and Geoga Bridge, the Busan New Port West Container Pier, the waters near Jinhae New Port, approximately 840 fishing vessels, about 50 fishing boats, and around 2,500 related maritime workers. It is tasked with maritime safety management and marine crime investigation.


A Changwon Maritime Police official stated, “We will actively promote the provision of improved maritime security services to local residents and maritime workers and strive to maintain maritime safety.”


Chief Kim Young-cheol said, “The deployment of this new coastal rescue boat will be an important turning point in further strengthening maritime safety in the Changwon waters. We will continue to introduce advanced equipment to prioritize the safety of local residents and do our best to create cleaner seas.”
