President Yoon Suk-yeol rejected the resignation expressed by Army Chief of Staff Park An-su, who served as the martial law commander during the emergency martial law, the presidential office announced on the 5th.
A presidential office official said in the afternoon, "The President recently judged that stable military operations are necessary under the severe security situation and urged him to devote himself to his duties as the Army Chief of Staff."
Earlier, Chief of Staff Park appeared before the National Assembly's National Defense Committee for an urgent inquiry and revealed that he had tendered his resignation to then Minister of National Defense Kim Yong-hyun the day before.
