Busan Gijang-eup Administrative Welfare Center (Eupjang Lee Sang-sik) announced on the 5th that the Gijang-eup Saemaeul Women's Association held the '2024 Love Kimchi Sharing' event for three days from the 1st to the 3rd at the Gijang-eup Administrative Welfare Center.
About 50 members of the Gijang-eup Saemaeul Women's Association gathered at this event to make approximately 500 heads of kimchi, which were delivered to 200 households including vulnerable groups such as basic livelihood security recipients, elderly living alone, and low-income single-parent families.
On the first day, the 1st, they salted the napa cabbages; on the second day, the 2nd, they washed the cabbages and made the seasoning sauce with ingredients they purchased themselves; and on the third day, the 3rd, they mixed and packed the kimchi before delivering it to neighbors in need.
Kim Hae-soon, president of the Gijang-eup Saemaeul Women's Association, said, "Although it is a small effort, I am glad that we can deliver warmth to our neighbors through this event," and added, "We will continue to strive for community harmony and volunteer work."
Lee Sang-sik, head of Gijang-eup, said, "I sincerely thank the members of the women's association who actively participate in the kimchi sharing event every year despite the cold weather," and added, "I hope that the kimchi made with sincerity and love will help our neighbors in need have a healthy and warm winter."
