The Seoul Metropolitan Chapter of the Korean Red Cross (President Kwon Young-gyu) announced on the 5th that it will carry out comprehensive relief activities for elderly people vulnerable to the cold wave this winter. The Seoul chapter will deliver quilted blankets to 3,775 vulnerable households in the local community and provide close support to overcome temperature changes until March next year. Binggrae and LG Uplus sponsored the effort.

Red Cross volunteers visit households recommended by administrative agencies and those regularly receiving care services to deliver cold weather relief supplies, while checking △ whether insulation sheets such as air caps and draft stoppers are attached, △ any health abnormalities, and △ the need for professional psychological counseling.

Kim Sook-ja, Chairperson of the Seoul Metropolitan Council of the Korean Red Cross Volunteer Association, said, “Elderly people who have difficulty moving find it hard to wash blankets themselves, so we frequently replace their winter blankets,” adding, “Throughout the winter, our volunteers will deliver relief supplies prepared through sponsorships and check on the well-being of our neighbors.”
