IBK Industrial Bank of Korea Receives Presidential Citation for Promoting Eco-Friendly Technology and Consumption

Recognition of Achievements in Expanding Carbon Neutrality Practices and Supporting ESG Management for SMEs

IBK Industrial Bank announced on the 5th that it received the Presidential Citation in the Carbon Neutral Lifestyle Practice category at the '2024 Government Awards for Promotion of Eco-friendly Technology and Consumption' event held at the Seoul Culture Tank.

The Government Awards for Promotion of Eco-friendly Technology and Consumption are given to individuals and companies who have contributed to technologies, products, consumption, and lifestyle practices that help improve the environment.

IBK Industrial Bank was recognized for its outstanding achievements in expanding the foundation for carbon neutral practices among various stakeholders and supporting ESG management for small and medium-sized enterprises.

The bank practices sustainable environmental management through various carbon neutral activities involving employees and customers. In particular, through Mintit’s ‘ATM Campaign’ promoting the recycling of electronic products, it created approximately 85 million KRW in social value, and actively carried out customer participation eco-friendly marketing to increase customers’ interest and involvement in environmental protection.

Additionally, through the NO ‘Paper Passbook Marketing’ and ‘Protect the Earth While Making a Passbook Marketing’ campaigns, the bank provided an environmental protection fund of 5,000 KRW for non-face-to-face account openings and encouraged the issuance of non-face-to-face passbooks instead of paper passbooks, enabling customers to participate in environmental protection in their daily lives.

Moreover, the bank organically supports green transition and ESG activities of its small and medium-sized enterprise customers. On the digital management support platform IBK BOX, it offers services such as greenhouse gas emissions calculation, ESG self-diagnosis, and waste collection, while offline it provides customized ESG consulting including detailed ESG diagnosis and in-depth consulting.

Furthermore, IBK Industrial Bank actively participates in various internal energy-saving activities such as LED replacement, turning off lights during idle times, maintaining appropriate heating and cooling temperatures, and introducing high-efficiency equipment. A bank official stated, “This award is especially meaningful as it is an achievement made together by employees and customers,” adding, “Practicing carbon neutrality is one of the important roles of financial institutions, and we will continue to fulfill our social responsibility through various eco-friendly campaigns and green financial products.”
