The ‘Clean Air Future Classroom’ team from Suncheon Mirae Science High School received the Excellence Award for their project exploring the correlation between fine dust and air-purifying plants. The ‘Clean Air Future Classroom’ team researched the impact of the placement of air-purifying plants on fine dust concentration using fine dust measurement sensors. Through scientific inquiry activities that collected and verified data on the effects of air-purifying plants, they achieved outstanding results.
The ‘Kkomak Excavators’ team from Beolgyo High School received the Encouragement Award by proposing scientific solutions considering local resources and the environment. The ‘Kkomak Excavators’ team conducted an inquiry activity measuring and analyzing plant photosynthesis using wireless carbon dioxide sensors under the theme of creating a photosynthesis ecological map of their neighborhood.
Both schools are designated as intelligent science lab construction schools and are actively conducting scientific inquiry activities using data to solve real-life problems.
Intelligent Science Lab ON is an online platform that supports scientific inquiry activities by utilizing big data and advanced science technology, providing learning content and the latest analytical tools. This platform offers materials necessary for science classes and inquiry processes through student-tailored services, helping students develop the ability to solve real-life problems.
Park Jun, Director of Future Education, said, “This contest provided an important opportunity for students to present creative and practical solutions by utilizing advanced science and technology,” adding, “We will actively support the activation of ‘Intelligent Science Lab ON’ in connection with various science education projects such as science jumping schools, science clubs, and science research and development teams.”
