Deliberation on Yeoju-si Suicide Rate Reduction and Suicide Prevention Promotion Plan Establishment
The Yeoju Public Health Center in Gyeonggi Province (Director Choi Young-sung) announced on the 5th that it held the Yeoju Suicide Prevention and Life Respect Committee on the 3rd to deliberate on the establishment of the 2025 plan for reducing the suicide rate and suicide prevention in Yeoju.

The committee meeting was attended by nine experts in suicide prevention-related fields, including the public health center director as the chairman, police, fire department, local medical institutions, and senior welfare centers. The meeting included sharing the current status of suicide and mental health crisis intervention in Yeoju, reporting on the 2024 suicide prevention project performance, and discussing the direction of the 2025 suicide prevention project and cooperation plans with related organizations.
Director Choi Young-sung of the Public Health Center said, “This committee meeting was a meaningful occasion where the public and private sectors cooperated to protect the precious lives of Yeoju citizens,” and added, “We will actively reflect the opinions raised in the meeting to reduce the suicide rate in Yeoju and foster a culture of life respect together with the citizens.”
Currently, Yeoju operates the Yeoju Suicide Prevention Center, affiliated with the Yeoju Mental Health Welfare Center, providing psychological support counseling services for Yeoju citizens, suicide prevention education targeting children, adolescents, and the elderly, depression screening, medical expense support, continuous case management, and ongoing mental health projects and activities to promote suicide prevention and mental health for local residents.
