Yeoju Museum to Hold
National Intangible Heritage Bongsan Talchum Performance at Women's Hall Theater on 7th at 2 PM
Yeoju Museum in Yeoju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Chung-woo) will hold a performance of the national intangible cultural heritage Bongsan Talchum at 2 p.m. on the 7th at the Women's Hall Performance Hall.
This performance is an opportunity for citizens who have learned Bongsan Talchum from a national intangible cultural heritage master residing in Heungcheon-myeon, Yeoju City, and have cultivated their skills for as short as one year and as long as eight years to showcase their talents. Bongsan Talchum is a representative Korean mask dance registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. It is characterized by vivid and elegant costume colors, larger dance movements, and a wider range of motion compared to other mask dances, making it very dynamic.
The performance will include not only the humorous and satirical Bongsan Talchum but also celebratory performances. Gugak Electronic Traveling Troupe is a young gugak group that adds modern EDM beats to lively traditional Korean melodies, presenting exciting music. Through the harmony of tradition and modernity, they plan to showcase a new charm of gugak.
A museum official said, "This performance is a meaningful occasion for citizens to directly experience the precious value of traditional culture and share it with the local community," adding, "We hope this event will relieve the stress accumulated throughout the year and become a time for all the audience to share laughter and emotion together."
The performance is free of charge and open to everyone. For more detailed information about the performance, please visit the Yeoju Museum website or inquire by phone.
