First Institution to Receive Award Since Establishment of Safety Management Indicators
Busan Metropolitan Corporation (BMC) won the 'Grand Prize in Safety Management' at the 2024 Korea Management Awards ceremony held at the Shilla Hotel Seoul on the 3rd.
The Korea Management Awards, hosted by the Korea Management Association Consulting (KMAC), is the most prestigious award in the domestic management field, given to companies that have contributed to industrial development through management capabilities and innovation achievements. It has been held for the 37th time since its establishment in 1988.
BMC was recognized for its efforts to enhance overall safety in its operations through leadership from management and field-centered safety management practices aimed at achieving 'Zero Major Accidents,' including the establishment of internal regulations for the introduction of smart safety equipment to prevent accidents and disasters, and the construction of a BMC-type safety management platform to strengthen real-time safety management between headquarters and business sites. As a result, it received the grand prize in the Safety Management category within the Management domain.
In particular, the award gained additional significance as BMC was the first organization to receive it since the introduction of new indicators for safety management.
Park Su-saeng, Acting President of Busan Metropolitan Corporation, said, “This is a very meaningful achievement recognizing the results of efforts by all employees to practice safety management while growing together with the local community.” He added, “BMC will continue to advance its safety management system and expand ESG management activities that contribute to the regional economy.”
