Cheongyang County Wins Regional Food Index Grand Prize for Three Consecutive Years

Cheongyang County in South Chungcheong Province announced on the 5th that it received the grand prize for the third consecutive year at the "2024 Regional Food Index Evaluation" held at the Government Convention Center in Sejong City on the 3rd.

The county, a typical aging rural area, established a dedicated department called Rural Community in January 2019 to recover the local community through agriculture and rural development, and to establish a "local circular food plan (Food Plan)."

The county laid the foundation for the Cheongyang-style Food Plan by organizing a comprehensive implementation plan in five major areas and ten key tasks, establishing an institutional foundation and a public operation system, building a comprehensive food town, establishing a year-round planned production system, and expanding the consumer market in metropolitan direct stores and public meal services through the participation of social economy organizations.

County Governor Kim Dongon made the construction of the nation's best food plan system a key pledge during his 7th and 8th terms.

Last year, the county completed the comprehensive food town, promoted cooperation with local agricultural cooperatives, linked welfare and food, and implemented innovative policies such as mandatory safety inspections.

Governor Kim stated, "I will take this award as encouragement for Cheongyang County's efforts," and added, "In the new year, we will create a sustainable local economy and a model for community recovery where farmers and consumers can smile together, grow together, and dream of hope together."
