'Drunk, I Guess', 'Winter in Seoul'... Flood of Martial Law Parody Posts A photo parodying President Yoon Suk-yeol's emergency martial law on the night of the 3rd with the movie "Spring in Seoul," which depicts the emergency martial law imposed by the new military regime 44 years ago, has appeared. Since President Yoon Suk-yeol declared a surprise martial law on the night of the 3rd and lifted it six hours later, a flood of satirical 'memes' has appeared online.

On the 4th, memes and parodies mocking the martial law have spread mainly across various online communities and social networking services (SNS). The most notable image is a poster titled "Looks Like He's Drunk." This photo parodies the poster of the movie "Spring in Seoul," which dealt with the martial law imposed by the new military regime 44 years ago, by superimposing President Yoon Suk-yeol's face onto the protagonist Jeon Du-gwang (played by Hwang Jung-min) from "Spring in Seoul." Netizens are sharing humorous posts mocking President Yoon by saying, "He usually enjoys drinking," and sarcastically suggesting, "Did he declare martial law while drunk?"

In addition, posts such as "Did President Yoon watch the movie 'Spring in Seoul' after seeing the Blue Dragon Film Awards broadcast amid recent controversies over unmarried childbirth involving actor Jung Woo-sung and model Moon Ga-bi?" and "It seems he got obsessed with martial law after watching the movie" have also received many likes. Other posts that have become popular online include comments like "I was laughing when Trump was elected in the U.S., but martial law was declared in my own country," and "From now on, I won't share a table with people who question the plausibility of historical dramas."

A satirical image also circulated showing President Yoon and former President Park Geun-hye sitting face-to-face at Park’s Daegu residence in April 2022, with Park seemingly saying, "I only thought about it too, you crazy XX." This appears to mock the secret martial law documents prepared by the Military Security Command just before Park’s impeachment in February 2017.

Memes related to this have also emerged overseas. A user on X (formerly Twitter) posted a composite photo featuring former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, former Peruvian President Pedro Castillo, and Yevgeny Prigozhin, leader of Russia’s Wagner Group, telling President Yoon to "join us." These figures have all recently been suspected of or involved in failed attempts at loyalist coups.
