Labor unions in the domestic automobile industry, including Hyundai Motor Company and Korea GM, are launching partial strikes demanding the resignation of the Yoon Suk-yeol administration. This is to participate in the nationwide rally and general strike organized by the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU), the upper-level organization of the Metal Workers' Union, calling for the administration's resignation.
On the morning of the 5th, the Hyundai Motor Union held an expanded executive committee meeting and announced that they decided to strike for a total of 4 hours over two days, 2 hours each during day and night shifts on the 5th and 6th.
According to the union, the first shift (morning shift) will strike from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM, and the second shift (afternoon shift) will strike from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Regular daytime workers, general staff, Namyang Research Center, sales and service, and Hyundai Mobis union members will strike 2 hours before the end of their shifts. After the strike, union members will participate in a rally demanding President Yoon's resignation held at Taehwagang in Ulsan.

The Korea GM union also held a joint executive meeting on the morning of the same day and finalized the strike schedule. The Korea GM union will also carry out a 2-hour strike for both the first and second shifts on the 5th and 6th. They will join the general strike in the same manner as the Hyundai Motor branch and plan to participate in the Metal Workers' Union's rally demanding the administration's resignation after the strike.
Their upper-level organization, the Metal Workers' Union, has announced plans to launch an indefinite full strike starting from the 11th if President Yoon does not resign. The aftermath of the emergency martial law is expected to impact the industrial sector as well.
