Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, Quickly Visits Mangwon-dong Fire Scene, Receiving 'Praise'

At around 7:22 AM on December 5th, a fire was reported at a building in Mangwon-dong, Mapo-gu.

The fire occurred in the basement level 1 of a five-story building and was completely extinguished by 8:15 AM.

Park Gang-su, the mayor of Mapo-gu, along with related officials, immediately visited the site to assess the fire and any casualties.

Additionally, the Mangwon 2-dong Community Welfare Team at the Mapo-gu Mangwon 2-dong Resident Center was instructed to provide relief to two residents who evacuated on their own and four residents who were rescued from the fire building. Access around the building was restricted together with the fire department and police to ensure residents' safety.

After inspecting the scene, Mayor Park Gang-su of Mapo-gu urged staff to “thoroughly prepare for safety, as the risk of fire accidents is especially high during the winter season.”

He added, “We will maintain close cooperation with related agencies such as the police and fire department to ensure prompt initial response in case of an accident.”
