Gongju City, Chungnam Province, announced on the 5th that starting next year, the meal support allowance for children from low-income families will be raised from 9,000 won this year to 9,500 won.

On the 4th, the city held a Children's Meal Support Committee meeting in the city hall conference room, where it decided to increase the meal support allowance, reflecting recent price increases.

The city plans to provide children with balanced nutrition and high-quality meals.

The eligible applicants for children's meal support are children under the age of 18 from low-income families who are at risk of skipping meals due to their guardian's employment, illness, or disability. Applications can be submitted by the child or their guardian at the local administrative welfare center or online (Bokjiro).

A city official said, "We hope that children from low-income families, who may have felt a heavy burden due to the recent rise in dining-out costs, will be able to feel some relief and receive quality meals through this increase in the allowance."
