Asan Nanum Foundation Establishes Base in Silicon Valley for Korean Startups to Expand

Plan to Establish 'Maru SF'... Targeting Opening Next Year

Asan Nanum Foundation announced on the 5th that it will establish ‘MaruSF’ in San Francisco, USA, to serve as a Silicon Valley base supporting the successful entry of domestic startups into the US market.

‘MaruSF’ plans to provide short-term residential spaces and various networking programs for startups entering the US market. It focuses on supporting startups in the early stages of their US expansion by offering short-term residential spaces at MaruSF for a minimum of one month and up to two months, helping them explore the local market, quickly adapt to the new environment, and effectively expand their business.

MaruSF is the third startup residence space following ‘Maru180’ and ‘Maru360,’ which have established themselves as domestic startup hubs, and it is the first facility that Asan Nanum Foundation is launching overseas. While Maru180 and Maru360 serve as incubators providing space, growth, and community support to early-stage domestic startups during their residency, MaruSF will operate as a community hub that enables startups entering the US market to intensively engage with the Silicon Valley local startup ecosystem and build networks within a short period.

MaruSF, Asan Nanum Foundation’s first overseas base, is currently in the establishment preparation stage with the goal of opening next year. The foundation plans to collaborate with domestic and international venture capitalists, accelerators, government agencies, and others to provide multifaceted support for the successful settlement of startups entering the US market.

Yoonmi Eom, Chairperson of Asan Nanum Foundation, said, “MaruSF is expected to be the starting line where domestic startups begin their journey of challenge and growth in the US market and serve as a key base for successful global business,” adding, “Asan Nanum Foundation will closely connect the startup ecosystems of Korea and the US centered on MaruSF and continue active support for startups entering the US market.”
