The appointment certificate will be awarded at 11:10 a.m. on the 5th in the City Hall Protocol Office, and the term of the 14th president is three years starting from the appointment date, today.


Newly appointed President Shin Chang-ho is a regional administrative expert who entered public service in 1994 through the 37th Administrative Examination and has promoted major city policies for over 30 years. On the 22nd, he underwent a personnel hearing at the City Council for public institution heads, where his management skills, policy execution capabilities, and future vision plans for the corporation were evaluated.


President Shin is recognized as the right person to carry out the duties of the Urban Corporation president, who must prepare for Busan’s next 100 years, due to his extensive experience in public development, investment attraction, corporate support, and economic and industrial regional issues, as well as his expertise in related fields.


Since beginning his public service career as the head of the Foreign Investment Attraction Team, he has held various positions including Head of the Private Investment Attraction Team, Head of the Investment Planning Team, Director of East Busan Development, Director of the Tourism Complex Promotion Team, Head of the Investment Attraction Division, Director of the Industry and Trade Bureau, Director of the Future Industry Bureau, and Director of the Digital Economy Office.


In particular, while serving as team and department head, he led the promotion of the East Busan Tourism Complex project, drawing the blueprint for the next 30 years of the complex’s future. As Director of the Digital Economy Office, he led the smart city development project based on advanced technology, which is expected to be a strength in advancing Urban Corporation projects such as the Gadeokdo New Airport Complex City and the Centum 2 District Urban High-tech Industrial Complex.


Before his appointment, President Shin stated, “I will contribute to revitalizing the local economy by establishing Busan’s urban economic ecosystem, realize residential welfare through supply of demand-tailored housing, and faithfully carry out core projects for Busan’s development and sustainable growth to create changes that citizens can feel.”


Mayor Park Hyung-joon said, “Busan is now preparing to take steps as a global economic hub city where companies, capital, and people from around the world gather, serving as a base for innovation in the southern region and a new growth axis of the Republic of Korea.” He added, “The new president is someone who understands urban economy well along with public development, digital economy, and smart technology. At this important time when Busan is making a leap to become a ‘global hub city,’ he is the right person to envision Busan’s future and will carry out his responsibilities with a sense of mission to ensure that large-scale projects proceed smoothly.”
