Interim Report Meeting Held on Developing Compact City in Namyangju Wangsuk GTX Complex Station Area for 'Leap to Future Luxury Self-Sufficient City'
Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwang-deok) held an interim report meeting on the "Namyangju Wangsuk GTX Complex Station Area Compact City Development and Specialized Space Linkage Commercialization Plan Establishment Service" (hereinafter referred to as Wangsuk District GTX Complex Station Area Specialized Development) on the 4th at the City Hall Yeoyudang.

This report meeting was arranged as a follow-up to the service initiated in March to review the progress of the Wangsuk District GTX Complex Station Area specialized development plan.
On this day, about 30 people including Mayor Joo Gwang-deok of Namyangju City, officials from Gyeonggi Province, and Korea Land and Housing Corporation attended. The service performing organizations, including the Korean Society of Land and Urban Planning and Beacon Hill ENG Comprehensive Architecture Office, presented progress reports, followed by discussions and Q&A sessions.
The interim service report presented various detailed implementation strategies under the vision of "Realizing a Compact City through High-density and Three-dimensional Complex Development of Wangsuk District GTX Complex Station Area," aiming to △ establish a new downtown Wangsuk in Namyangju City △ form a hub area centered on the Wangsuk station area △ build an integrated public transportation transfer system and optimize space.
Mayor Joo Gwang-deok emphasized, "For the GTX complex station area special planning zone to be successfully promoted, future-oriented planning and execution capabilities are essential, and innovative and sustainable development plans that lead the trends of the era must be prepared."
He continued, "It is necessary not only to provide transportation convenience but also to maximize synergy effects by planning complex shopping malls, hotels, convention centers, and complex transfer terminals to strengthen self-sufficient functions," and requested, "Please develop it into a premium city with Namyangju City's unique identity and philosophy reflecting the values of Jeong Yak-yong."
An official from Korea Land and Housing Corporation stated, "We will establish the optimal commercialization plan to activate private sector participation, prepare a public contest plan that can enhance the historicity of Dasan Jeong Yak-yong and urban competitiveness, and actively collect Namyangju City's opinions."
Namyangju City aims to finalize the public contest plan by 2026 through this service and select the final project operator within 2027. To this end, it plans to continuously consult with related organizations to improve the completeness of the project.
