On the 4th, Deputy Prime Minister Choi held an emergency meeting at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry with representatives of six economic organizations to share perceptions of the Korean economic situation and discuss response measures.
Attending the meeting were Sohn Kyung-shik, Chairman of the Korea Employers Federation; Park Il-jun, Executive Vice President of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Kim Chang-beom, Executive Vice President of the Korea Economic Association; Lee In-ho, Executive Vice President of the Korea International Trade Association; Jung Yoon-mo, Executive Vice President of the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business; and Lee Ho-jun, Executive Vice President of the Korea Federation of Medium-sized Enterprises.
Deputy Prime Minister Choi said, "We will ensure that scheduled investments, employment, exports, and other corporate management activities proceed without disruption under any circumstances," and added, "The economic team will work to resolve the issues currently faced by the industry."
He emphasized, "It is more important than ever for economic agents such as the public, companies, and the government to unite," and said, "If difficulties encountered during management activities are communicated through various channels, we will do our utmost to resolve them as quickly as possible." He also stated, "The government plans to closely monitor the situation and keep communication channels open to ensure the economy operates without any disruption."
The representatives of the economic organizations attending the meeting expressed, "With the recent inauguration of the Donald Trump administration in the United States and rapidly changing domestic and international conditions, industry concerns are high," and requested, "We ask the government to take active interest so that companies can conduct their management activities stably."
