SNS Tech, a specialized company in blank masks, which are core components in semiconductor and display processes, announced on the 4th that it will make new investments in its factory located in the semiconductor industrial complex in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province.
SNS Tech will invest approximately 41.7 billion KRW of its retained earnings to introduce new facilities and equipment for mass production of blank masks for Extreme Ultraviolet Lithography (EUV).
The investment is focused on equipment for inspecting EUV blank masks, which the company explained is the result of about four years of research and development since 2020, signaling market demand and entry.
In particular, the new investment plan aims to establish development and mass production lines to quickly respond to the demands of customers located in the Yongin semiconductor belt.
EUV blank masks are the original pattern masks used in the EUV exposure process to etch circuits onto wafers. They are manufactured through a process of re-stacking absorber-based alloys on a nanometer-scale thin multilayer film.
An SNS Tech official stated, "Until the completion in 2025, demand for EUV products can be met with equipment invested in the Daegu plant, and the Yongin plant plans to finalize the mass production line to respond to the increasing market demand."
