Policy Speech: "This Year Will Be One Where We Turn Potential and Growth Possibilities Into Reality"
On the 4th, Nonsan Mayor Baek Seonghyeon stated, "This year was a time when we rediscovered Nonsan by seizing opportunities and increasing momentum for progress even amid adversity," and added, "Next year will be the year when Nonsan's potential and growth possibilities become reality."
During his policy address at the 261st regular session of the Nonsan City Council, Mayor Baek said, "Despite the government's austerity policies and a series of natural disasters this year, we steadfastly pushed forward with the belief that 'where there is a will, there is always a way,' and achieved results in city administration."
He went on to say, "Major positive developments have followed Nonsan's vision of becoming a hub for the national defense and military supply industry, such as the final approval of the Nonsan National Defense Industrial Complex, designation as a Defense Logistics Industry Opportunity Development Zone, and K-Defense-leading Konyang University being selected as a glocal university."
In particular, he asserted, "Since the launch of the 8th popularly elected administration, Nonsan has grown into a land of opportunity and a base for economic growth in southern Chungnam through quality job creation and improvements to the residential environment, as evidenced by investment agreements totaling about 1 trillion won, a surge in job seekers at local defense companies, and active sales of landmark-type apartments."
He stated, "We have addressed long-standing regional issues such as the odor problem at the Gwangseok pig farm complex, forest protection regulations around Tapjeong Lake, and traffic congestion at Hwangryongjae in Beolgok-myeon through attentive administration."
He emphasized, "Just as bamboo, a symbol of integrity and loyalty, grows by strengthening its roots, Nonsan is now firmly establishing the foundation for rapid growth and is beginning to extend its strength day by day," and added, "The year 2025 will be a turning point when Nonsan's era of ultra-fast growth begins."
Meanwhile, Nonsan City's 2025 budget proposal amounts to 1,076,828,000,000 won, with the general account budget at 974,913,000,000 won and the special account budget at 101,915,000,000 won.
