Yeungjin College (President Choi Jae-young) announced on the 4th that the 'Yeungjin Humanities Writing Contest,' which has continued tirelessly for 10 years, has established itself as a unique university culture that leads students' humanities growth.
The 'Yeungjin Humanities Writing Contest' has been held annually without fail since its inception in 2014, providing students with opportunities to reflect on themselves and express their thoughts in writing. In particular, since 2016, a foreign international student category was added, establishing the contest as a K-Writing Contest where students from diverse cultural backgrounds share their stories in Korean.

This year's 10th writing contest was held on the 22nd of last month under the theme of 'Youth Records.' A total of 87 participants, including 70 enrolled students and 17 foreign international students, took part in the event, which received great acclaim for sincerely expressing the worries, hopes, and meaning of life in youth.
At the awards ceremony held on the 3rd, 17 winners were selected, including grand prize, second place, and third place recipients in both the domestic and foreign international student categories. Winners received prize money totaling over 4 million KRW and commemorative gifts, drawing applause for the students' passion and efforts.
The grand prize in the domestic category was awarded to Kang Mi-kyung (3rd year, Department of Nursing, age 45), and in the foreign category to Sasagase Koko (Japan, 1st year, Department of Hotel, Aviation and Tourism, age 25).
Kang Mi-kyung, a mature student who entered college in her mid-40s, received praise from the judges for sincerely expressing her challenges and passion toward her dreams.
Sasagase Koko delicately expressed in writing the most shining moments of her life, including quitting a stable job in Japan and studying Korean to fulfill her dream of living in Korea.
The second place winners were Baek Ji-hyun (1st year, Department of Nursing, age 24) in the domestic category and Ajizoba Odina (Kyrgyzstan, 3rd year, Department of Computer Information, age 20) in the foreign category. The third place winners were Kim Kyung-hoon (3rd year, Department of Computer Information, age 23) domestically and Suzuki Shuu (Japan, 1st year, Department of Content Design, age 18) internationally.
The 'Yeungjin Humanities Writing Contest,' hosted by Yeungjin College Library, has so far engaged over 2,000 domestic and international students in expressing their unique stories through writing, fostering humanities growth.
President Choi Jae-young stated, "The writing contest, which has continued for 10 years, has become a valuable opportunity for students to discover and reflect on themselves beyond a simple writing competition. In this era of convergence and diversity, we plan to continuously expand educational programs that can unleash students' infinite potential."
Meanwhile, at the awards ceremony, cultural event awards held in celebration of Reading Month were also presented. During the month-long Reading Month events in September, various programs such as the 'Book Escape Club,' 'Best Report Contest,' 'Book BTI,' 'Book Picnic,' and 'Themed Book Exhibition' were held, with 1,457 enrolled students participating, demonstrating high interest in reading and the humanities.
