Gwangju Seo-gu Supports Secondary Cancer Screening Costs for Suspected Patients... Up to 60,000 Won

Seo-gu, Gwangju City (District Mayor Kim Ikang) announced on the 4th that it will support the secondary detailed examination costs for individuals suspected of colorectal cancer or breast cancer among those who underwent national cancer screening.

The support target for colorectal cancer screening is men and women aged 50 or older who have a positive fecal occult blood test result, and for breast cancer, it is women aged 40 or older who received a diagnosis of 'suspected breast cancer' or 'indeterminate' from mammography and underwent a secondary detailed examination at a medical institution.

The district plans to support up to 60,000 KRW for colonoscopy sedation examination fees or breast ultrasound fees incurred from October last year to this year.

Applications must be submitted by the 31st with the original national cancer screening result, identification card, a copy of the bankbook, and other required documents by visiting the Cancer and Rare Disease Medical Expense Reception Office on the 2nd floor of Seo-gu Public Health Center.

Lee Sangyong, Director of Health Administration, said, “Through supporting secondary examination costs for individuals suspected of cancer, we aim to prevent cases where people cannot receive detailed examinations due to financial burdens and strive for early cancer detection and the promotion of residents' health.”
