Dongducheon City Appoints Pastor Oh Seong-hwan of Yeontan Church as 'One-Day Honorary Mayor'

Dongducheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Park Hyung-deok) announced on the 3rd that Pastor Oh Seong-hwan of Yeontan Church was appointed as the December ‘One-Day Honorary Mayor’ on the 2nd.

Honorary Mayor Oh Seong-hwan previously served as the president of the Dongducheon Christian Association and has been running the Dongducheon Yeontan Bank, practicing love for the underprivileged in the local community through sharing love briquettes every year-end.

On that day, Honorary Mayor Oh Seong-hwan received the appointment certificate from Dongducheon Mayor Park Hyung-deok at 8:30 a.m. in the mayor’s office and began his duties.

In particular, after attending the opening ceremony of the Dongducheon City Council regular meeting, he visited each department of the main office to listen to key business promotion matters and discussed with city officials and citizens the desired directions for city administration development.

In the afternoon, he attended the opening ceremony of the Child Care Center and then visited the Complex Cultural Community Center, which opened in November, directly inspecting current issues and fulfilling his role as the One-Day Honorary Mayor.

Meanwhile, the ‘One-Day Honorary Mayor’ system is a continuous policy project of Dongducheon City that appoints one person each month?such as citizens, expatriates, and educational figures?as honorary mayor to perform the mayor’s duties for one day and participate in city administration, thereby contributing to communication and participatory administration.
