At around 7:45 a.m. on the 3rd, a 15-ton dump truck driven by a man in his 60s collided with 13 vehicles waiting at a traffic signal at an intersection in Gwangdo-myeon, Tongyeong-si, Gyeongnam.

As a result of the accident, 16 people including the dump truck driver, Mr. A, who were in the vehicles involved, sustained minor injuries. Among them, 13 were transported to the hospital complaining of pain in their waist, head, and neck.
According to the Tongyeong Police Station and the Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters, Mr. A’s truck, which was carrying bricks, was traveling down a two-lane downhill road after crossing a hill when it struck passenger cars waiting at the traffic signal in lanes 1, 2, and 3 one after another.
It was confirmed that Mr. A was not under the influence of alcohol nor driving without a license.
The police are investigating the exact cause of the accident based on Mr. A’s statement that the brake, the braking device, did not function properly on the downhill road.
