Yongin City Provides Vehicles to Yongin Western Fire Station Volunteer Fire Brigade

Utilized for Fire Prevention and Disaster Site Support in Western Areas like Giheung and Suji
Mayor Lee: "Next Year, Prepare Modified Medium Bus as On-Site Command Vehicle"

On the afternoon of the 2nd, Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 3rd that it delivered an emergency response vehicle to the Yongin Western Volunteer Fire Brigade at the Yongin Western Fire Station in Singal-dong, Giheung-gu.

The emergency response vehicle delivered that day will be used for patrolling safety-vulnerable areas and fire prevention in the western regions of Yongin, including Giheung and Suji districts. It will also be utilized to respond to fire or disaster situations by dispatching to the scene to assist with rescue, first aid activities, and fire suppression.

The delivery ceremony was attended by about 80 people, including Yongin Mayor Lee Sang-il, officials from Yongin Western Fire Station, and members of the Yongin Western Volunteer Fire Brigade Association.

Earlier, on the 13th of last month, the city also supported the Yongin Fire Station Volunteer Fire Brigade with one vehicle for the same purpose. The vehicle purchase was funded using a portion of the special grant secured from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety last year for being selected as an 'Excellent Institution in Disaster Management Evaluation,' along with city funds.

Mayor Lee said, "Citizen safety is the most important value," adding, "For this, close cooperation between the city and key institutions such as the fire station is necessary, so we are doing our best to provide support." He also stated, "Next year, we plan to purchase a disaster site command vehicle equipped with a system that allows on-site meetings and video communication with the city’s situation room, so that the city, fire station, and police station can use it together."

Since the launch of the 8th municipal administration, the city has supported frontline fire stations with over 970 million won. In addition, the city holds a 'Safety Culture Salon,' where heads of related organizations regularly meet to discuss safety improvement measures and reflect them in policies.

A representative example is the establishment of a metropolitan emergency vehicle priority signal system. To this end, the city is significantly increasing the number of intersection signal devices from 175 to 1,084 and installing 57 terminals on fire trucks to build a system capable of responding to fires and emergency patient transport. The city is also actively supporting budgets for purchasing fire suppression equipment, reinforcing firefighting water facilities, strengthening rooftop evacuation facilities in apartment complexes, repairing the Yongin Citizen Safety Experience Center, and purchasing supplies for the volunteer fire brigade to prepare for disasters.
