The monthly assembly began with the presentation of the Dongducheon City institutional commendation for excellence in winter road snow removal evaluation. This was followed by the awarding of the Minister’s Commendation to public officials for contributions to the development of the 2024 Long-term Care Insurance System for the Elderly, as well as provincial governor commendations to institutions contributing to the spread of donation culture, citizens contributing to civil defense development, and citizens promoting volunteer activities.
Next, mayoral commendations were presented to three citizens for outstanding operation of meal service facilities, four citizens for contributions to city administration development, two individuals for excellence in public sector case management projects, one citizen for promoting youth training center operations, nine citizens for discovering welfare blind spots, and five diligent public officials.
Additionally, awards were given to the top-performing departments in the 2024 autonomous internal control evaluation: the Architecture Department received the highest honor, the Accounting Department was recognized for excellence, and Bosan-dong and the Information and Communication Department received encouragement awards along with five public officials. Certificates were also awarded to three students from Korea Culture Video High School for winning the grand prize in the 2024 Dongducheon Kkokkok 60-second video contest, and to one general participant who received the excellence award, with words of encouragement.
Meanwhile, in his remarks, the mayor expressed gratitude to public officials for their dedication, highlighting the opening of the Complex Cultural Community Center in November, which created spaces for youth, adolescents, and cultural artists in the old downtown area. He also noted the holding of an idea contest that discovered numerous items for city development and promotion, and the achievement of securing 25 billion KRW in national and provincial project funds for 2025.
Furthermore, he urged thorough preparation for winter measures in December to cope with unpredictable climate change, and encouraged fostering a warm culture of sharing through activities such as Red Cross membership fee campaigns and Yeontan sharing.
He also emphasized that the 2025 main budget is the last main budget of the 8th elected Dongducheon city administration that can produce tangible results, and stressed the importance of doing their best to establish the budget so that projects can commence immediately from January next year.
Finally, as December is an important time to wrap up the year and prepare for a new beginning, he asked everyone to calmly review their work over the past year, assess achievements and shortcomings, cultivate the habit of recording and reflecting on their own performance, and strive to establish themselves as professional administrators capable of adapting to any department.
