The Gangwon Regional Headquarters of the Korea Energy Agency announced on the 2nd that it held a completion ceremony for the ‘Sunlight·Happiness·Sharing Energy Welfare Project 100kW Solar Power Plant’ at the Goseong County Integrated Waste Treatment Facility located in Jukwang-myeon, Goseong-gun, Gangwon-do.
On the 2nd, the "Sunlight, Happiness, Sharing Energy Welfare Project 100kW Solar Power Plant Completion Ceremony" was held at the "Goseong-gun Waste Integrated Treatment Plant" located in Jukwang-myeon, Goseong-gun, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province. The event was attended by Lee Sang-hoon, Chairman of the Korea Energy Agency, Kim Yong-bok, Vice Chairman of the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Provincial Council, Ham Myung-jun, Mayor of Goseong County, Kim Dong-il, Director of the Korea Climate Change Research Institute, and CEOs of five private companies related to new renewable energy, including Park Jong-hwan, CEO of HD Hyundai Energy Solutions.
The ‘Sunlight·Happiness·Sharing Energy Welfare Project’ is a virtuous cycle social contribution activity in which private energy companies donate solar power equipment (modules, inverters, structures, etc.) to build solar power plants, and the profits generated from these plants are donated to energy-vulnerable groups.
The annual profit of approximately 15 million KRW generated from this power plant will be used for energy welfare projects, such as donating briquettes to low-income households. This helps energy-vulnerable groups stay warm during the cold winter.
Additionally, some of the profits are planned to be reinvested in solar power generation projects. Through this virtuous structure, the project aims to contribute to the energy and social welfare issues of the local community.
On this day, Lee Sang-hoon, Chairman of the Korea Energy Agency, expressed his gratitude to the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, Goseong County, the Korea Climate Change Research Institute, and private companies for their efforts in completing the solar power plant, and stated, “The Korea Energy Agency, as an energy leader opening the future together with the people, will continue to strive to discover such sustainable energy welfare projects.”
