Increase in Non-Covered Payment Range
Substantial Support for Non-Covered Items
The Private School Teachers' Pension Service (Sahak Yeongeum) announced on the 2nd that it has revised and implemented the special nursing care cost calculation standards from the 1st of this month to expand compensation for non-covered medical treatment items that are not subject to health insurance.
This is aimed at ensuring sufficient treatment for teachers and staff who suffer injuries or illnesses during the performance of their duties. Based on the diagnosis of the attending physician, costs for prescribed examination fees, rehabilitation, physical therapy, and Korean traditional medicine treatment will be supported without limits on the maximum amount or number of sessions. Additionally, if the staff member is hospitalized, income application will be possible from the start date of hospitalization. It is expected to provide practical assistance for the treatment support and rehabilitation for returning to work of injured teachers and staff in the future.
Currently, robotic surgery, which is not supported, will be improved to provide amounts at the level of regular nursing care benefits in the future. In cases where robotic prosthetic arms and legs are especially necessary for teachers and staff who have suffered occupational injuries, full actual expenses may be supported after review by the Private School Teachers' Pension Benefits Deliberation Committee.
Song Hajung, Director of Sahak Yeongeum, stated, “Through this revision of the standards, teachers and staff under Sahak Yeongeum can worry less about the treatment costs for non-covered items due to occupational injuries,” and added, “We will continue to review improvements to the occupational injury compensation system and make our best efforts in injury prevention activities to ensure that necessary compensation for injured teachers and staff is continuously provided.”
