Jangseong-gun, Invited Lectures by Seongjin Monk and Ha Seongyong Priest on the 5th

'Empathy with Myself & Empathy with Others' Topic

Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 2nd that it will hold the '21st Century Jangseong Academy' on the 5th at 4 PM at the Small Theater of the Jangseong Culture and Arts Center, inviting Seongjin Seunim of the ‘Mannam Choir’ and Father Ha Seong-yong.


The ‘Mannam Choir’ is a vocal group composed of clergy from Protestantism, Catholicism, Buddhism, and Won Buddhism to promote interfaith harmony.

Seongjin Seunim, the head monk of Seonggwan Temple of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, serves as the chair of the Interfaith Dialogue Committee of the Korean Council of Religious Leaders for Peace (KCRP) and has appeared on various broadcasts including BBS TV’s ‘Haengbok Gongyanggan’.


Father Ha Seong-yong, deputy director of the Social Pastoral Department and chairman of the Justice and Peace Committee of the Archdiocese of Seoul, has gained recognition for his straightforward yet witty speaking style through appearances on programs such as MBC’s ‘Iltagangsa’.


The topics of this lecture are ‘Empathy with Oneself’ and ‘Empathy with Others,’ reflecting on the problems that arise when empathy is lacking. It also provides guidance on how to find balance between one’s own emotions and those of others.


The 21st Century Jangseong Academy is held on the first and third Thursdays of every month, and on the 5th, students of the Jangseong Culture and Arts Center’s acoustic guitar class will showcase the skills they have honed over the year.


Admission is open to everyone without prior registration, and live attendance is also possible via Jangseong-gun’s YouTube channel. Lectures for which sharing of materials is agreed upon can be rewatched on the Jangseong-gun website and YouTube.
