In his opening remarks, BISTEP President Kim Young-bu stated, "The field of quantum technology holds the potential to be a 'game changer,' and based on Busan's strength in power semiconductor research infrastructure, we hope to nurture the material industry related to quantum technology."
The keynote presentation was delivered by Chief Researcher Joo Jung-jin of the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, who explained the current status and applications of quantum memory technology and suggested the necessity of R&D in Busan's quantum memory material sector. Following this, Professor Ok Jong-mok of Busan National University presented on "The Necessity and Planning Direction for Quantum Memory Material Development," introducing the need for material development for quantum memory and quantum semiconductors and the direction for new business planning through the consolidation of Busan's research capabilities.
The discussion was chaired by Professor Park Sung-kyun of Busan National University, with participants including Chief Researcher Joo Jung-jin, Professor Ok Jong-mok, PO Kim Si-nae of the National Research Foundation's Quantum Technology Division, Professor Lee Won-jae of Dong-Eui University, Chief Researcher Lim Hee-jin of the Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science, and Director Lee Heon-jae of Bitouji Research Institute. They examined the current limitations and issues of the domestic quantum material industry for quantum technology development and discussed the importance of material R&D and strategic measures to foster Busan's quantum semiconductor industry.
BISTEP, together with Busan City, plans to continue efforts to expand the R&D network and derive innovation strategies for the Busan region through the "7th Busan Future Technology Innovation Forum (Digital Innovation Strategy for Busan Cosmetics Industry)" to be held on December 13 at the 4th floor banquet hall of Avani Central Hotel Busan.
