Dong-Eui Science University Hosts Special Lecture by Japanese Mold Specialist Company Ogaki Seiko

Discussing the Future of the World's Best Mold Technology for Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam University Students

Dong-Eui Institute of Technology (President Kim Young-do) announced on the 2nd that, in cooperation with Busan City, it held a special lecture on the afternoon of November 29th at the seminar room of the Information Building at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology, inviting Katsuhiro Ueda, Chairman of the Japanese mold specialist company Ogaki Seiko, and Jeong Il-gwon, Head of the Headquarters.


Hosted by Busan City and jointly organized by Dong-Eui Institute of Technology, the Busan-Gyeongnam Mold Industry Cooperative, and the Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials, this special lecture was arranged as a unique opportunity to share world-class mold technology development strategies and talent cultivation plans with university students from the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam regions. Approximately 100 participants, including university students and experts, attended to raise awareness of the importance of mold technology advancement and to support local talents in acquiring global technology trends and practical skills.


The lecture began with a welcoming address by President Kim Young-do of Dong-Eui Institute of Technology and a congratulatory speech by Lee Soo-gyun, Chairman of the Busan-Gyeongnam Mold Industry Cooperative, followed by a 100-minute presentation by Chairman Katsuhiro Ueda and Head Jeong Il-gwon on the theme of “Japan’s World-Class Mold Technology Development and Talent Cultivation Strategies.” The lecture deeply covered Ogaki Seiko’s technological innovation cases, the latest trends in the mold industry, and talent development models.


Fourteen award-winning students who achieved excellent results at the 12th Southeast Region CAM Technology Competition in 2024 were specially invited to attend the lecture, along with about 70 faculty members and students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology.


Busan City expects that this special lecture will enhance local university students’ understanding of global mold technology and lay the foundation for mold industry cooperation between Busan and Nagoya. Attendees also responded positively, saying, “It was a meaningful time as we could obtain useful information applicable in the field.”


Lee Soo-gyun, Chairman of the Busan-Gyeongnam Mold Industry Cooperative, stated, “This special lecture will serve as a cornerstone for cooperation that enables mutual development of the mold industries in both Korea and Japan, beyond a simple lecture,” and added, “We will actively support such exchanges and cooperation in the future.”


Dong-Eui Institute of Technology and Ogaki Seiko plan to expand not only technological cooperation but also talent exchange programs through continuous exchanges going forward.
