Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam announced that a Christmas lighting ceremony was held at the square in front of City Hall, hosted by the Changwon Christian Council and Masan Christian Council.
The event held on the 1st was attended by about 500 people including Hong Nam-pyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, Son Tae-hwa, Chairman of the Changwon Special City Council, other dignitaries, citizens, and Christians.
During the lighting ceremony, Christmas carol singing accompanied by praise music deeply moved the participants.
The Christmas tree, approximately 17.4 meters tall and stretching 47 meters wide in a curtain style, was decorated with special LED lights that twinkled like the Milky Way. At the moment of lighting, thousands of LED lights illuminated the entire tree, creating a radiant glow. The tree and its surroundings produced a fantastic scene resembling starlight pouring from the night sky, eliciting cheers from the attendees.
Hong Nam-pyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, said, “I hope the Christmas tree lit today becomes a light of hope for all citizens in need of help, like a bonfire that warmly soothes bare hearts.”
This Christmas tree will remain lit at the Changwon City Hall square until January 5th of next year, allowing citizens to fully enjoy the joy of the year-end season.
